Circle has launched its Nanopayments solution on testnet, enabling gas-free USDC transfers as small as $0.000001. Built on the Circle Gateway infrastructure, this development specifically targets autonomous machine-driven and programmatic economic activity—a pivotal advancement for the emerging agentic economy.

Traditional payment systems remain poorly suited for high-frequency microtransactions due to inflexible fee structures. Even existing blockchain solutions face significant cost barriers, where gas fees can often exceed the value of sub-cent transfers by 1000% or more. Circle's innovative model aggregates transactions off-chain, settling them in batched on-chain bundles to completely eliminate individual gas costs.

The system promises near-instant microtransfers for AI-driven and machine-to-machine (M2M) use cases. By absorbing the on-chain settlement fees, Circle strategically positions itself at the forefront of programmable money flows within decentralized finance (DeFi) and the broader digital asset ecosystem.
